Welcome to the 31st Annual

Textile River Regatta

Sunday, October 3rd, 2010 on the Merrimac River, Lowell MA

>>> FINAL RESULTS <<<

Thanks for playing!

We threaded the needle on weather, and eventually all races were completed.  Given the weather we have had had in the region lately, we're grateful that the only real effect was the delay early in the day to remove the trees and patio furniture that had come floating down the river from our friends up north.   We thank you for your patience on this.  Kudos to our own crack team of marshals and mechanics to get this work done.

>>> LOST AND FOUND <<<

If you have knowledge about the whereabouts of the following items, please write to carl@textileriverregatta.org:

  • LOST:  Mixed set of Union Boat Club sculling oars;   blue with a white chevron, probably left near the launch area. One has “o” and the other “q” as a label.

  • LOST:  Coxbox - It has Newman School written on the case two times, one on a piece of electrical tape, and another mailing label with the school's address and logo printed on it. Reward with no questions asked.

  • LOST:  RPI Oars. They are red oars with white “R”s on them, with blue tape by the oar handle. If you have seen them or know anything about them, please email Christine back or call her at 862-202-2213.

  • LOST: Bluetooth headset, small over-the-ear style.  Probably lost somewhere between the lower bathrooms and the registration area.

We look forward to seeing you again next year - mark your calendar for TRR 2011 on Sunday Oct 2, 2011.  With a 20% increase in volume for 2010, we will again be looking at further ways to improve the event - so please do send your feedback to info@textileriverregatta.org

Thanks for making TRR 2010 a success,

Jay Feenan, Carl Popolo, Peg Landry and the Textile River Regatta Committee

UPDATES

Oct 04
Oct 02
  • Weather Vendor has come through with predicted perfect conditions for tomorrow.  River is rising so it will likely be quick, but well below any action stage.  As a reminder - this is the largest downriver regatta in Massachusetts; you will be racing with the current.
  • Quote for the day:

    "Nice? It's the ONLY thing, said the Water Rat solemnly, as he leant forward for his stroke. Believe me, my young friend, there is NOTHING - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. Simply messing… he went on dreamily: messing about… in… boats;  messing... about... in... boats."

More about the TRR

The Textile River Regatta is an extremely popular 6k head race held on the Merrimack River in the fall. The event is organized by the Merrimack River Rowing Association (MRRA) in coordination with the UMass-Lowell and Lowell High School Rowing programs.

A full range of sculling and sweeps events are included, with competition provided by large entries from many local and regional clubs and colleges. The event occurs a few weeks prior to the Head of the Charles and hence provides athletes with ideal competitive training on a great course with a convenient location.
